Even if you don’t prioritise organic, there are lots of reasons for getting a veg box – it’s just a very easy way of making sure you get lots of healthy food. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve done: shown people there is a better way to buy food, and it is viable as a business.
For years we were basically making things up as we went along, not copying other people, and that’s made us what we are. But on the other hand it’s been painful at times – there are some wheels that you don’t need to reinvent – so we wanted to bring in some expertise and grow the business, while guarding what makes us special. [Abel & Cole recently had a multi-million pound investment from Phoenix Equity partners.
